Childhood Motor Impairment and Assisted CommunicationWe are excited to have been awarded a two-year National Institute of Health (NIH) grant to study the impact of communication rate through the speed and accuracy of upper extremity of movements on a touch screen communication device with children aged 6 to 18. We are attempting to separate the effect of sensory and motor deficits from the effect of cognitive and language deficits and will be comparing movement patterns with controls with a similar distribution of ages. In the Fall of 2003 we will be recruiting participants for this study and this web site will then have more information.
