Match Day brings 151 new house staff to SHC, LPCH

Some 151 new house staff, including 25 graduates of Stanford Medical School, are slated to join SHC and Packard Hospital in June following March 17 Match Day activities.

In his March 21 e-newsletter, Dean Philip A. Pizzo said the SHC and LPCH specialty disciplines "had wonderful success in recruiting their top choices." [See .pdf chart]

On the outgoing side of the Match Day equation, Pizzo noted that 65 students participated. The number, he said, was smaller than usual in anticipation of a much larger group predicted for 2006.

The graduates chose a broad range of specialty programs. The largest programs, broadly consistent with national trends, were internal medicine with eight first year residents, and pediatrics with seven.
