-Roger A. Warnke, left, professor of pathology is now the Ronald F. Dorfman, MB-BCh, FRCPath, Professor of Hematopathology. The honor was celebrated June 10 during a reception held by the Department of Pathology on Alumni Green. Warnke, winner of the 1981 Benjamin Castleman Award, is an authority on the identification of antibodies and antibody panels used to help diagnose and classify lymphomas, including Hodgkin's disease.
Attending the event (and celebrating with libation in hand) was the award's namesake, who joined the Stanford faculty in 1968 and became an active emeritus professor in 1993. A founder (with pathology faculty colleague Richard L. Kempson) of Stanford's surgical pathology training program, Dorfman is known for his diagnostic expertise and scholarly contributions to lymph node pathology. He is noted for his training of physicians - including Warnke - in hematopathology.
