Brains-on-brain at the Neurobowl

-Bruce Adornato, adjunct clinical professor of neurology and former SHC medical staff president, holds trophy after captaining the presumably self-named “All Stars,” to victory in the American Academy of Neurology’s, er, coveted, Neurobowl, a 90-minute competition held at the opening gala of the academy’s annual meeting earlier this year in San Diego. The Neurobowl challenges neurologists to come up with correct diagnoses using video, imaging studies, pathological and laboratory data and other information. At left is academy president and contest host Thomas Swift, professor at the Medical College of Georgia. “All Stars,” shown from left, are Nancy Newman, professor of neuro-ophthalmology at Emory University; Adornato; Jose Biller, professor of neurology at Loyola University, Chicago; Peter Bergethon, professor of neurolgy, New England Medical Center, Boston; and Anthony Lang, professor of neurology at Toronto Western Hospital.
