The lights came on Dec. 2 for SHC's Holiday tree, sponsored by Friends of Nursing. Founded in 1981, Friends of Nursing raises funds to support patient education, nursing research and education. The group, supported in part by sales of ornaments for the tree, provides more than $10,000 each year in grants toward patient education and patient care research.



Tommy Daly, 3, of Half Moon Bay was pulled out of the audience to choose a favorite ornament. He liked the snowflake (he's showing to nursing manager Joan Caldwell), but the round ball brought out a smile. Tommy is the son of SHC respiratory therapy supervisor Rachel Daly

The piano man offering seasonal music to light a tree by is LARRY MATHERS, who has a "day job" on the Medical School faculty in anatomy and pediatrics intensive care.
