International outreach efforts
William J. Maloney, chair of orthopedic surgery, left, stands at a patient’s bedside with
Christopher Mow, adjunct clinical associate professor of orthopedics, along with a family member and ward nurse during a visit by the two medical staff members to Tongji Medical University Hospital in Wuhan. The visit in October was one of several to hospitals in China, where the surgeons lectured and performed charity total joint surgeries. Mow is the Director of the International Fellowship and Exchange Program for Orthopaedics and has visited the Asia Pacific five times this year.
Mow, who regularly conducts international programs in the Asia Pacifc region, responded graciously to our request for photos of international outreach efforts. We are looking for pictures of yourself and colleagues in locations where you have traveled to provide clinical or volunteer teaching services. We will feature the photos as space permits in the Medical Staff Update and on a display planned for the hospital. Send a photo or two with some caption information to goodkind@stanford.edu
