A confidential
employee survey and a series of informational meetings for employees with
CEO Martha Marsh were launched in February. (Medical Staff members were
not participants in this project.)
Marsh, president
and CEO of SHC, explained that the five-minute survey, conducted by the
Gallup Organization, as well as meetings are part of an effort to further
improve both Stanford and Packard hospitals by creating a culture and environment
that fosters professional discussion and input by a variety of employees
throughout the hospitals.
The improvement
effort is called "Insight 2005: Building to Be the Best Medical Center in
the Nation." Marsh described the program as an integrated program of measurement,
training and action "that will build on each hospital's strengths and enable
us to become the best medical center in the nation."
Survey PIN
numbers and instructions were sent directly to employees' homes.
Only aggregate
data will be available to management and no individual employee responses
will be made available at either hospital, Marsh said.
Marsh said
the meetings and survey represent an opportunity for employees to be heard,
while allowing management an opportunity to evaluate feedback in a coherent
manner.
"Thank you
for your enthusiasm, ideas and support as we go about making Stanford Medical
Center the best in the nation," Marsh told employees. "I look forward to
our continued efforts and collaboration in meeting this goal," said Marsh.
