MYRIAM J. CURET, recently promoted to professor of surgery, wll become senior associate dean for graduate medical education effective in April. Dean Philip A. Pizzo, in announcing the appointment, called Curet a “highly regarded educator” who has already served for two years as associate dean. The dean said he created the “senior” post to “better align residency, fellow and continuing medical education with the school’s academic programs.”
ALAN KRENSKY, the Shelagh Galligan Professor of Pediatrics and chief, Division of Immunology and Transplantation Biology,
will leave Stanford after nearly 25 years to join the National Institutes of Health in July 2007 as the Deputy Director for the Office of Portfolio Analysis and Strategic Initiatives (OPASI). Dean Philip A. Pizzo, who announced the transition, said Krensky “ has made numerous and significant contributions as a physician-scientist as well as one of the key architects of the Children’s Health Initiative.”
ERIC A. WEISS, assistant professor of Emergency Medicine, has been appointed through the School of Medicine to serve part time as medical director of the San Mateo County Emergency Medical Services Agency. In his new post, Weiss will be responsible for developing medical protocols and policies and evaluating the quality of medical care. He has also been appointed medical director for Stanford’s newly created office of Service Continuity and Disaster Planning.

GUNDEEP S. DHILLON has been appointed to assistant professor of medicine (pulmonary and critical care medicine).
DEAN FELSHER has been promoted to associate professor of medicine (oncology) and of pathology.
MICHAEL R. JENG has been promoted to associate professor of pediatrics (hematology and oncology).
GREER M. MURPHY has been promoted to professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences.
CHRISTOPHER N. TA has been promoted to associate professor of ophthalmology.
VICTOR TSE has been promoted to associate professor of neurosurgery.
WEN-KAI WENG has been appointed to assistant professor of medicine (bone marrow transplantation).
DORCAS YAO has been appointed clinical associate professor (affiliated) at PAVAHCS in the Department of Radiology.
