DAVID RELMAN, associate professor of medicine (infectious diseases and geographic medicine) and of microbiology and immunology has been selected as one of the recipients of Distinguished Clinical Scientist Award for Excellence in “Bench to Bedside” Research from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. He will receive $1.5 million over five years.
JULIE PARSONNET has stepped aside as senior associate dean for medical education after five years and return to her roles as an investigator and clinician. In his Dec. 4 Dean’s Newsletter, Dean Philip A. Pizzo thanked Parsonnet for her five years of service and “the extraordinary job she has done in significantly enhancing medical education at Stanford.” Pizzo cited her leadership in curriculum design, as well as her help in developing the advising system. He further praised her as “a champion for improving the lives and personal development of our students.”
