--- BE A MENTOR ---

-Todd Ferris, a family practice physician currently working in an information technology role at Stanford Medical School, discusses a patient with first-year medical student Bory Kea at Pacific Free Clinic. The Stanford student-run clinic provides free basic health care services in San Jose at Overfelt High School on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The clinic, which has treated about 800 underserved persons, celebrated its first anniversary in May. Lyen Huang, a second-year medical student and one of the clinic managers, said more physician volunteers are needed to treat patients and mentor students. Stanford and Kaiser have extended malpractice insurance for their physicians, and other doctors may gain such coverage through Stanford by combining their volunteer activities with an adjunct clinical faculty appointment.
