HONORs & AWARDS:
Two Stanford faculty members were recognized as best in their respective categories in a “Top 10” professional reader poll sponsored by the publication, Medical Imaging. SARAH DONALDSON, Catharine and Howard Avery Professor in the Stanford School of Medicine and associate chair and residency program director of radiation oncology, took the top spot in the category “radiation oncologist/cancer researcher.” GEOFFREY D. RUBIN,professor of
radiology and associate dean for clinical affairs, was recognized as tops in the category, “cardiovascular imager/cardiac catheterization lab director.”
CHRIS PAYNE, associate professor of urology and director of female urology and neurourology, gave the introductory talk for a conference, “Innovating for Continence: The Engineering Challenge,” which was sponsored in April in Chicago by the Simon Foundation for Continence. The title of the talk was “Will All Incontinence Be Cured Anytime Soon?”
CHRISTINA T. MORA MANGANO, professor of anesthesiology and chief of cardiovascular anesthesia, became the 16th president of the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists for a 2-year-term effective April 23. The SCA is an international organization of 6,984 physicians.
RONALD D. GARCIA, assistant dean for minority affairs, and FERNANDO MENDOZA, professor of pediatrics and associate dean of minority advising and
programs, were selected as two of the 100 Most Influential Latinos in Silicon Valley. Their biographies and pictures are scheduled to be published in July’s San Jose Magazine.
