Send off for Larry Shuer - May 28

[1] Gastroenterologist and former Chief Medical Officer Peter Gregory humorously praised Shuer’s sense of discretion by saying when he asked him what his most memorable moment as chief of staff was, Shuer answered, “I can’t talk about it.”

[2] Family boosters: Shuer’s wife, Paula and daughter Nicole (left).

[3] CEO Martha Marsh noted that Larry Shuer was the longest serving chief of staff in the hospital's history.

[4] Ann Dohn, director of the Department of Graduate Medical Education, called Shuer’s leadership in housestaff affairs at the most difficult moments “a voice of reason in the darkness.”

[5] Dean Philip Pizzo said Shuer was lauded by colleagues as a “doctor’s doctor... a survivor in his role as chief of staff... a leader.”
