Medical Staff dues and fees provide a variety of services

Invoices for fiscal year 2004 medical staff dues and fees are scheduled to be sent in April to medical staff at both Stanford and Packard hospitals.

Dues at both hospitals remain the same - $150 annually. The medical boards at both hospitals voted to increase fees by $25 per year from $37.50 to $62.50, explained Sandi Edgar, director of medical staff services at SHC and Packard.

Staff members who practice at both SHC and LPCH will pay $150 to their primary hospital and $75 to their secondary hospital for combined dues, and $62.50 in credentialing fees to both institutions, Edgar said.

The fees are used to offset the processing of applications in the credentialing office. This includes all processes to validate credentials, including licensure, and board certification, as well as background checks and querying of the National Practitioners Data Bank.

The dues provide a variety of services and amenities, including:

Special projects like the Smoking Cessation Program, Nurse Week, etc.

Invoices will be sent later this fiscal year than usual, because billing software needed to be activated first, Edgar said.
