'Stanfordmed' axes 'medcenter' in e-mails

The outdated hospital medical address:

"medcenter.Stanford.edu"

was being eliminated in February for most users because the outdated address is a conduit for Spam mail, SHC information technology has announced.

The termination does not affect a few departmental users whose active address still use the "medcenter.Stanford.edu." Most users were migrated to a "stanfordmed.org" address 18 months ago.

IT said about 95 percent of Spam messages that make it through anti-Spam filtering to be forwarded to active accounts are addressed to the obsolete "medcenter.Stanford.edu" address.

For questions about this e-mail change, contact Graeme Mosedale, (408) 981-8715, or gmosedale@stanfordmed.org.
