New editor named for Medical Staff Update

Sara Selis has been named the new editor of Medical Staff Update, replacing Mike Goodkind who retired in November 2001 after 20 years in the position. She oversees all aspects of the publication, which include developing story ideas, writing and editing stories, and coordinating the printing and distribution of the publication.

Selis can be reached by phone at (650) 723-7798, or by e-mail at selis@stanford.edu. She welcomes your comments, story ideas, or suggestions for improving the publication - particularly suggestions on how to give greater voice and visibility to the medical staff's community-based physicians.

A print journalist by training, Selis received her master's degree from the University of Missouri Graduate School of Journalism in 1993. She has covered health-care and medical issues for several publications, including Business First, the weekly business journal of Columbus, Ohio; the Palo Alto Weekly; and HealthLeaders, a monthly trade magazine covering the health-care services industry. She most recently worked in the public affairs office of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation.
