Publication Highlights Clinical Labs
LabLine, a publication to help medical staff members and others keep abreast of clinical laboratory issues related to their practices, was launched in March. The publication is edited by Ellen Jo Baron, technical/operations director of the clinical microbiology/virology laboratory.

The first issue featured the clinical microbiology/virology laboratory. The medical directors are Lucy Tompkins, professor of medicine, and Thomas C. Merigan, the George E. and Lucy Becker Professor of Medicine. The April issue features automated hematology at Stanford. The medical director of that laboratory is Joanne Cornbleet, associate professor of pathology.

Baron said each month the publication will be sent to physicians who specialize in the topic covered. Copies will be distributed to both north and south campuses of UCSF Stanford Health Care.

The purpose of the publication is to help physicians keep abreast of practical technical information they can use in caring for patients at Stanford Hospital and in their practices, said Baron. The material is reviewed and guided by physicians who direct each lab, she said.
