| Eugene
Bauer, vice president for the medical center, announced the appointment
of Michael J. Peterson as interim CEO of Stanford Hospital and Clinics,
effective June 1. Peterson succeeds Mitchell, who retired on May 31. Bauer
said the search for a permanent replacement for Mitchell is progressing.
Peterson has more than 30 years of experience in health care.
